The Most Moose In One Day
The most moose we ever saw in one day is 12. This was on New Year's Eve, 2020. We were flying out of Jackson Hole in the afternoon and spent some time driving around looking for wildlife before our flight. And we found plenty! Out Gros Ventre Road we saw two bulls laying down off the road. A little further down was a cow with her calf, another two bulls a little way off, and three more bulls, eating and hanging out together. They seemed to be around every bend in the road.
Behind the National Elk Refuge, the BigHorn Sheep were all over and across the road. Lot’s of great picture opportunities there.
Besides all of the Elk inside the National Elk Refuge, we saw two small groups of them on hillsides outside of the Refuge. Each group had about 2 dozen.
It was the perfect way to end a beautiful week in Jackson Hole, and to say Goodbye to 2020! All the way home I was thinking of carving a couple of leather feathers with moose on them in different ways.
