"Queen of the Tetons: A Tribute to Grizzly 399"
This stunning leather feather carving pays homage to Grizzly 399, the famed "Queen of the Tetons." Known for her remarkable legacy in Grand Teton National Park, Grizzly 399 has captured the hearts of wildlife enthusiasts worldwide. With an astonishing 22 children and grandchildren, she symbolizes resilience and the powerful bond between mother and offspring. In May 2020, at the age of 24, she amazed onlookers by emerging with quadruplets, solidifying her place as a legend of the wild.

This piece was inspired by a magical winter encounter in 2020. While hiking in Jackson Hole, just off the backside of Blacktail Butte, we were lucky enough to witness Grizzly 399 and her four cubs making their way up the very hill we had just explored. They were heading to their den for the season—a moment etched in memory and now brought to life through this carving.

The feather itself, embossed for a lifelike dimension, captures the grizzly's regal presence. Complemented by a braided leather accent and a replica bear claw, the piece embodies the size, strength, and majesty of these incredible creatures. The backing, crafted from brushed suede cowhide, and the 'live edge' ambrosia maple frame, complete this homage to the wild.
